Waukegan Police Investigating Two Shootings, One Fatal
Waukegan Police Department officials reported detectives believe both Aug. 15 shootings are related.

WAUKEGAN, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified the victim in one of two late Wednesday shootings in Waukegan. Dr. Howard Cooper, Lake County Coroner said results of a preliminary autopsy show 28-year-old Julian King, of Zion, died as a result of injuries from gunshots.
"Toxicology is pending,” Dr. Howard Cooper, Lake County Coroner, said in a release. “Mr. King’s family has been notified and our deepest condolences go out to them.”
Waukegan Police Department officials said officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Grand Avenue at 10 p.m. Wednesday for reports of shots fired. Police officials said that's where officers found the victim, in the parking lot of a multi-family complex.

Police officials said the coroner's office was notified and responded to the hospital that night, where the victim was transported by Waukegan Fire Department crews, where he was pronounced dead.
According to police officials, the department was informed an hour later of a second shooting victim who took himself to another area hospital, where he's in serious, but stable condition.

This second victim is being identified as a 38-year-old male resident of Waukegan, according to a release from homicide officials.
Officials said detectives from the Waukegan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division are investigating both shootings and believe they're related. However, officials said detectives do believe the shootings are isolated incidents and there's no direct threat to the community.
