Woman Hit By Car After Running Into Traffic: Police

Police responded to the area after receiving a report of a drunk person. The woman allegedly ran into traffic when police approached her.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 27-year-old Lake Zurich woman was critically injured after she ran into traffic on North Fairfield Road in Fremont Township Wednesday night, authorities said. Police were first called to the area of North Fairfield and West Schwerman roads at about 10:35 p.m. for a report of an intoxicated person. Deputies arrived and found an abandoned 2017 Honda Civic on the side of Fairfield Road, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

They then located a woman, who had been driving the Civic, hiding in a wooded area near the vehicle. When deputies began to talk with her, she abruptly ran onto Fairfield Road and was hit by a 1999 Honda Odyssey, according to the news release.

The 27-year-old woman was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries.

The driver of the Honda Odyssey, a 35-year-old Round Lake Park man, was not injured, according to the news release.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
