A Blast of December Blows into Chicago Next Week - And Maybe Snow, Too
Arctic air will be pushed down into northern Illinois late Monday and last the entire week.

The National Weather Service brings you a taste of December temperatures next week, and possibly snow, thanks to everybody’s friend, the Polar Vortex:
As you probably have heard already, the potential exists for a wintry weather system to impact the region next week, mainly from late Monday into early Tuesday. We’re closely monitoring this system and would like to emphasize that it is still too early to tell what the impacts may be in our local area. A swath of accumulating snow is likely to the north of a low pressure system that will track near our area Monday night, with the exact track of this system dictating whether portions of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana observe any accumulations or the swath of snow falls to the north over Wisconsin. Wherever this occurs, at least some impacts to travel can be expected.
What we have higher confidence in is that behind this system, expect an early season blast of Arctic air that will linger through the rest of next work week. Daytime and nighttime temperatures will be similar to what is typical for mid to late December!
