Dr. Andrew Kulik Appointed CCHHS' Chair of Psychiatry
Lincoln Park resident to lead Cook County Health & Hospitals System's behavioral health care services.

Andrew Segovia Kulik, M.D., has been named Chair of Psychiatry for the Cook County Health & Hospitals System (CCHHS). A Lincoln Park resident, Dr. Kulik joined CCHHS in 2009 to lead John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital’s division of inpatient psychiatric consultation.
As Chair of Psychiatry, Dr. Kulik will provide administrative and clinical oversight for psychiatry care provided at CCHHS across the continuum of care, from ambulatory clinics to Stroger and Provident Hospitals. He will also supervise psychiatric care provided by Cermak Health Services to detainees at the Cook County Jail.
“We are continuing to see a growing need for comprehensive behavioral health services in the communities we serve. With his extensive expertise and a great passion for caring for our patient population, Dr. Kulik is well positioned to lead CCHHS forward in expanding and enhancing the behavioral health care our system provides,” said Dr. Jay Shannon, CEO, CCHHS.
Dr. Kulik has specialty training in forensic psychiatry (the intersection of medical psychiatry and law), having completed a fellowship in the field at the University of Maryland Medical Center, and regularly serves as a subject matter expert in legal proceedings. He has also conducted research on the impact of care continuity on recidivism rates among individuals being released from the correctional system.
Prior to joining CCHHS, he served the Circuit Court of Cook County as a forensic psychiatrist and as an attending physician with the Sheppard Pratt Health System in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Kulik earned his medical degree from Grace University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Illinois Medical Center. He is fluent in Spanish and is board certified in general and forensic psychiatry.
