World premier closes 2014 Chicago Dancing Festival tonight
The sky is clearing so there's still time to get to Millennium Park for the 2014 Chicago Dancing Festival finale
The weather radar shows the rain moving over the Lake, so now is the time to get your picnic together and get ready for the final evening of the 2014 Chicago Dancing Festival.
One of the great things about this year’s Chicago Dancing Festival is the world premieres commissioned for specific dance troupes. So far audiences enjoyed the opening night world premier dance by Hubbard Street Chicago and the “Dances for Two” premier featuring Ron De Jesus and the Nexus Project. Tonight After School Matters will perform the third world premier commissioned for the Chicago Dancing Festival.
It’s a testament to the Chicago Dancing Festival’s commitment to up-and-coming dancers that tonight’s world premier was created for a student program. In the final event, two student groups are highlighted -- After School Matters and The Julliard School -- right along world-renowned professionals from The Joffrey Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, the Washington Ballet and Rennie Harris Puremovement.
