• ‘This vote was about taxes': Stretched voters reject funding requests in Lake County referendums (dailyherald.com) — Lincolnshire-area voters have rejected a tax increase for the Vernon Area Public Library District, halting a $39.5 million expansion and upgrade plan for the Olde Half Day Road facility. While residents voiced strong support for the library itself, many said higher property taxes felt unaffordable, so officials will now focus on replacing aging infrastructure and making essential safety improvements only.
