2 North Side Men Shot by Rogers Park Store Employee Charged in Attempted Robbery
A third man also was arrested and charged after he was accused of driving the suspects to hospitals.

CHICAGO, IL — Two North Side men have been charged in the attempted robbery of a West Rogers Park store Sunday after they were shot and wounded by an employee, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Stephon Kinchen, 18, of the 7300 block of North Damen Avenue, and Neil Thomas, 24, of the 7500 block of North Winchester Avenue, were charged with attempted armed robbery Tuesday. They're both being held on $900,000 bail.
A third man — Anthony Simpkins-McDonald, 21, who lives at the same address as Thomas — was charged with the same count in connection with Sunday's incident. He's accused of driving Kinchen and Thomas to area hospitals after the shooting, the Tribune reports. Simpkins-McDonald was released on $250,000 bail.

According to Chicago police, Kinchen and Thomas entered the store in the 7400 block of North Western Avenue at about 9:46 p.m. and announced their intention of robbing it. A store employee with a valid concealed carry license then shot the two men, wounding one in the shoulder and the other in the forearm.

Kinchen and Thomas fled to area hospitals, and police took them into custody shortly after.
