Chicago Man With 'Pedophile's Handbook,' Child Porn Gets 37 Years

Thousands of photos and videos of child pornography were found on the Northwest Side man's devices, federal prosecutors said.

CHICAGO, IL — A Northwest Side man was sentenced to 37 years in prison Wednesday in connection with creating and possessing thousands of photos and videos of child, according to the U.S. attorney's office. Scott Reskey, 62, also was accused of grooming and sexually abusing a child younger than 10, in some cases filming himself engaging in sex acts with the girl, prosecutors said.

Last year, Reskey pleaded guilty to the production of child pornography and possession of child pornography. He received 25 years for the production charge and a consecutive 12-year sentence for the possession count, according to a release Wednesday by the U.S. attorney's office.

Reskey was arrested in February 2017 after more than 400,000 images and more than 1,400 videos of child pornography were found on his laptop and other electroic devices, prosecutors said. His arrest was part of a federal investigation to uncover child pornography being sent and received through a website called "PlayPen," which Reskey accessed under the alias "peanuty123," U.S. attorney's office said.
