The 2nd Ward is getting more than 50 new officers.

CHICAGO, IL — New district officers are coming to communities in Chicago's North and West Sides, Ald. Brian Hopkins announced Monday. The new officers have trained in the academy and in the field, the Chicago Police Department said. In total, 86 new officers are being deployed citywide.
The 12th District will receive 12 new officers, the 18th District will receive 20 new officers, and the 19th District will receive 20 new officers.
Over the past year, 720 sworn members have been added across Chicago. Last year, CPD received more than 10,000 applications. According to officials, nearly half the applicants were CPS graduates, 10 percent were military veterans and about 77 percent identified as minorities.
