Dwyane Wade Guest Hosts 'Live with Kelly'

Basketball star talks about "surreal" decision to leave Miami Heat for Bulls on "Live with Kelly," says he's fulfilling a lifelong dream.

Dwyane Wade said he was torn on his decision to leave the Miami Heat for the Chicago Bulls Thursday morning when he served as a guest-host of “Live with Kelly" alongside Kelly Ripa.

But the chance to play for his hometown team fulfills a lifelong goal, and that’s why he opted to sign a two-year, $47 million contract with the Bulls, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Wade called the decision “surreal.”

"It's still surreal and I'm still numb," Wade said. "This decision I had to make last night. I've been in Miami for 13 years, I mean 13 incredible years. ... You get a week to decide what you're going to do and I had no sleep. I lost probably 5 or 10 pounds just not being able to eat."

In discussing the move back home, Wade reminisced about his days growing up in the area.

"I've always envisioned myself being in the backyard, always had a Bulls jersey on, always envisioned Dwyane Wade's name being called in the United Center," he said.

While the decision to leave the Heat for the Bulls was nerve wracking no doubt, he said it was nothing compared to the nervousness he felt heading into the “Live with Kelly” on-air set.

Wade’s television appearance was an audition of sorts for him. He says he wants to go into on-air television work once his NBA career comes to an end.

Which Bulls fans now hope isn’t for several more years.
