Chicago's First Amazon Go Store Opens In The Loop
Amazon opens company's first Amazon Go Chicago location Monday.

CHICAGO, IL — Chicago's first Amazon Go store is now open at 113 S. Franklin Street in the Loop. The Chicago Tribune reported the company's first cashierless store in Chicago opened Monday, making it Amazon's fourth location and first outside Seattle. According to the news report, the 2,000-square-foot store will be open 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. weekdays on the first floor of the site where the company's Chicago office sits.
The new Amazon Go store doesn't have any check out lines, as customers must scan their smartphone app when they enter the store to make their arrival known. The Chicago Tribune said Amazon automatically charges a customer's account when they leave the store, as cameras and sensors track their shopping via a virtual cart and more.

Patch previously reported possible Amazon Go locations throughout the Chicago area including space in the Willis Tower and in an office building next to Ogilvie Transportation Center.
In January, Patch reported Chicago made it on Amazon's list of potential cities to be the site of the Seattle-based retailer's second headquarters. The city joined Indianapolis, New York, Atlanta, Dallas, Denver and others as possible candidates for the $5 billion venture that could create 50,000 jobs. The wait for a decision continues.
