LISLE, IL — The Lisle Park District Board of Commissioners will review a security camera policy amid plans to install security cameras at Community Park. The item will be up for discussion at the board's Oct. 15 meeting.
The move comes after Community Park's skate park was closed following incidences of graffiti. According to a board staff report, the suggestion of surveillance cameras to deter defacement came at the July board meeting. Board members also suggested increasing the presence of community service officers.
The cameras would be installed near the skate park and baseball field at Community Park.
According to park district documents, the aim of the police is to "establish clear, consistent direction and procedures for the District's use of security cameras while balancing public safety and the protection of District property with privacy considerations."
The policy covers such topics as camera placement, footage retention, legal compliance and the release of and authorized access to recordings.
Per the policy, the Lisle Park District will be authorized to install security cameras in both indoor and outdoor areas that are public on park district property. Audio recording will be prohibited.
The Lisle Park District Board of Commissioners meeting will be held Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at Lisle Recreation Center, 1925 Ohio St.
