Find Bulls/Sox Academy Summer Camps Throughout Chicagoland

The Bulls/Sox Academy announced today that the official summer camps of the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox are coming to over eighty communities this summer throughout the Chicagoland area with programs for boys and girls from age five to twelve for every ability level. Designed to have fun, work hard, and improve the fundamentals and advanced techniques of every athlete, full day, half day and combination camps are offered at various locations.

For the first time in its seventeen year summer camp history, the Academy has created a unique experience for all of its summer camp participants at the United Center and U.S. Cellular Field.  Each basketball camp participant, along with one guest, will be invited to the United Center for a Q&A session with a Bulls' personality and a current and/or former Bulls player.  All baseball and fastpitch camp participants will experience U.S. Cellular Field through a parade on the field and a Q&A session with a White Sox personality, coach and a current White Sox player. All baseball/basketball combo camp attendees will receive both stadium experiences.

“We are proud to offer this new experience to all our camp participants.  Beyond working on their game, these young athletes now have a rare opportunity to visit U.S. Cellular Field or the United Center and meet Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bulls personalities,” said Xan Pearson, Bulls/Sox Academy Vice President of Marketing.  “The professional instruction and the opportunity to engage with a pro athlete set us apart from other summer camp programs.”

The five day White Sox Training Centers summer camps are broken down into three different age levels for beginners, intermediate and advanced ball players. Professional coaches will focus on the essential skills of baseball – hitting, throwing, fielding, pitching, bunting and base running.  Every participant in the baseball and fastpitch softball camp program will receive the U.S. Cellular Field experience, six free White Sox tickets, a Bulls/Sox Academy hat, t-shirt and graduation certificate.  Restrictions apply to ticket vouchers. All athletes seven years and older receive a skills evaluation.  The Top 30 qualifiers in each age group will compete in the final skills competition at U.S. Cellular Field in September at our Champions Day event.

Professional instructors from the Chicago Bulls Basketball Schools will work with campers on ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, footwork and team concepts. The “Rookies” session is geared toward teaching the basic fundamentals of basketball for young players just learning the game. The “Veterans” session focuses on advancing essential skills of basketball for the more experienced or travel players. Each participant in the summer basketball camp program will receive the United Center experience, a Bulls Basketball Schools duffel bag, Chicago Bulls indoor/outdoor basketball, t-shirt, graduation certificate and a discount on purchasing 2010-2011 Bulls tickets (Restrictions apply) as well as a special gift for the first 1000 registered basketball campers.  All athletes will receive a skills evaluation.  The top skills scores in each age group will compete for the Grand Championship on the United Center court at our annual Champions Day event.
