This Spring, Get Inspired to Start Writing Fiction! Writing Fiction: Get Started Begins 4/5 in COD's Continuing Ed Program

Writing Fiction: Get Started

Fiction writers will develop the tools needed to write a compelling story or begin a gripping novel. We'll look at fiction essentials, including how to craft intriguing plots, characters and settings. During this 6-week course, we will

  • Learn how to get started and keep writing.
  • Explore techniques to unleash creativity and improve writing skills.
  • Read and discuss short works of fiction for inspiration.
  • Write in-class exercises and at-home assignments.
  • Introduce a writing workshop, learning to give and receive essential feedback from fellow writers.

Through these interactive classes, you will gain an understanding of how to shape and tell a compelling story. Start your lifelong writing adventure with this engaging course.

About the Instructor: Laura Ehrke is a published novelist, freelance writer and creative writing instructor. Having studied writing at Northwestern University and earned a Master of Liberal Arts degree from the University of Chicago, she has writing experience as a columnist, feature writer, blogger, business writer, public relations specialist, and creative writer.
