Lisle Voters Reject Proposal To Reduce District 202 Tax Levy
Voters rejected a proposal to reduce the District 202 property tax levy.
LISLE -- The race for Lisle village trustees and school board members was set for Tuesday, April 2, with the polls opening at 6 a.m.
In one of the most-watched issues on the ballot, Lisle voters opted to reject a proposal to lower the property tax levy for District 202.
With 75 percent of precincts reporting, 1,783 voters had voted "no" and 754 voters had chosen "yes."

Here's how the question appeared on the ballot:
Shall the amount extended for educational purposes by Lisle Community Unit School District be reduced from $19,062,127.15 to $17,155,915.00 for the 2018 levy year, but in no event lower than the amount required to maintain an adequacy target of 110%?

Village Trustee
Three seats were re available for the Village of Lisle Board of Trustees and a total of seven candidates were running. The three candidates with the highest unofficial vote totals are Sara Sadat, Stephen A. Winz, and Cathy Cawiezel. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, the candidates and vote totals are as folllows:
- Charles A. Rego: 868 votes
- Stephen A. Winz: 1,488 votes
- Mark Patrick Boyle: 1,029 votes
- Sara Sayed Sadat: 1,660 votes
- Claire Goldenberg: 984 votes
- Michael Olson: 1,359 votes
- Cathy Cawiezel: 1,396 votes
Lisle Community Unit School District 202 Board of Education
Unexpired 2-year term (pick 1)
- Pamela "Pam" Ahlmann: 2,010 votes
- Susan S. Cassa: 1,098 votes
Three seats were open for full four-year terms. The candidates and vote totals are as follows:
- Daniel Helderle: 1,952 votes
- Wendy Nadeau: 2,010 votes
- Lisa Kiener-Barnett: 2,096 votes
- Elizabeth Kennedy: 1,193 votes
- James A. Strnad: 907 votes

Voters in Lisle also rejected a proposition about whether or not the tax levy for Lisle Unit District 202 should be reduced. With 75 percent of precincts reporting, 1,783 voters had voted "no" and 754 voters had chosen "yes."

The group Yes 4 Less Lisle 202 Taxes contended that property owners within the school district's boundaries have been overtaxed and that the levy reduction is necessary.
An opposing group, Citizens for Lisle Kids, called the proposed cuts "deep and damaging" and raises concerns about how the cuts would effect quality of education and home market value.
