Lisle Woman, 21, Killed By Drunken Driver Near WMU Campus: Report
Kaylee Gansberg, 21, was hit by a drunk driver early Saturday near Western Michigan University, where she attended school.
KALAMAZOO, MI — A Lisle woman was killed by a drunken driver early Saturday while she was walking near Western Michigan University, where she attended school, according to police and multiple reports.
Police say the vehicle hit Kaylee Gansberg, 21, near the intersection of Howard Street and Michigan Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Gansberg was taken to an area hospital and died of her injuries later Saturday.
According to police, the driver, a 22-year-old resident of Kalamazoo, Michigan, fled after hitting Gansberg, but was later taken into custody and transported to Kalamazoo County Jail.

On Sunday, Chi Omega, Gansberg's sorority, shared a statement on its Facebook page in the wake of her death. They wrote,
"We are deeply saddened to share the loss of a beautiful soul, Kaylee Gansberg. If you were lucky enough to know Kaylee you know she was the kindest, most outgoing and artistic person. She was everyone’s friend and we were lucky enough to have her as our sister. We will never forget you or the impact that you had on our lives. You will always be in our hearts and we now have the best guardian angel watching over us."
