Metra Train Fatally Strikes Pedestrian In Lisle; Second Pedestrian-Train Fatality In Days
A BNSF Metra train fatally struck a pedestrian in Lisle late Tuesday night. An investigation is underway.

LISLE, IL — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Burlington Northern Sante Fe Metra train is Lisle late Tuesday night. The fatal accident took place at approximately 9:58 p.m., according to to a release from the DuPage County Coroner's office.
When emergency crews arrived, they found the victim "with no signs of life" near the 25.9 mile marker of the Sante Fe line. The DuPage County Coroner's Office pronounced the victim dead at approximately 10:18 p.m.
This is the second suburban train fatality in three days. An Amtrak train fatally struck a pedestrian in Northbrook Monday.

BNSF trains were delayed for more than two hours as a result of the fatal collision. According to the DuPage County Coroner's Office, the preliminary cause of death was "massive traumatic injuries" with toxicology results and a final autopsy report pending. The victim's identity has not been released.
