Naperville Police Issue 167 Citations During Labor Day Enforcement

All of the impaired driving arrests were made after midnight, and two of the safety belt citations were issued after 9 p.m.

The Naperville Police Department issued 167 citations during a recent Labor Day impaired driving crackdown.

Police made 12 impaired driving arrests and issued seven safety belt citations and 31 cell phone/texting citations during the increased enforcement effort, according to Naperville Police.

Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this nationwide effort to save lives by getting impaired drivers off our roads and more people buckled up during late-night hours.

The Naperville Police Department joined forces with other state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in conducting the crackdown campaign featuring high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities including paid advertising and over $1 million in additional police activity.

Extra emphasis was given to the late-night hours when statistics show the most people drink and drive and the fewest buckle up.

The recent law enforcement crackdown was funded by federal traffic safety funds through IDOT’s Division of Transportation Safety and is part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Overcampaign.
