Still Time To See Illumination: Tree Lights At Morton Arboretum

The dazzling holiday lights display has been extended through Jan. 8.

LISLE, IL — There's still time to get into the holiday spirit by taking in thousands of dazzling lights at Morton Arboretum's Illumination: Tree Lights. The exhibit, which quickly sold out its initial walking tours through Jan. 2, has been extended into Jan. 6, 7 and 8.

“Illumination continues to be very popular and is receiving outstanding feedback from those who visit,” Preston Bautista, Morton Arboretum's Vice President of Learning and Engagement, said in an update.

Bautista added,“With most dates currently sold out, we’d like to give as many people as possible the opportunity to experience this refreshed version of Illumination.”

The exhibit, which transforms the arboretum grounds into a twinkling winter wonderland, required visitors to stay in their cars in 2020 due to coronavirus.

This year, holiday tunes, colorful lights and crackling fires set the scene as guests follow a one-mile path that will feature five new lights displays in addition to several familiar favorites. The new displays for 2021 Illumination include 150 brightly hued lanterns that will light up the summit of Frost Hill, a "gateway" of lights that leads the way to Meadow Lake and a light installation that adorns "Hallow," part of artist Daniel Popper's Human + Nature exhibit.
