• Madison Approves Bid to Reduce Yard Waste Stockpile in City (collinsvilledailynews.com) — Madison’s City Council has approved a $47,000 contract to grind and remove the city’s large yard waste stockpile and voted to end city-run commercial trash pickup, giving businesses 30 days to find private haulers. Council members also finalized a new youth curfew, bought a replacement street department truck, and delayed decisions on a proposed halfway house, fire equipment maintenance, and short-term cleanup hiring until their Sept. 21 meeting. 
• Illinois 3 bridge reconstruction in Madison County begins Sept. 14 (collinsvilledailynews.com) — If you drive Illinois 3 near Venice, expect lane closures starting Monday, Sept. 14, as a long-term bridge reconstruction project begins in Madison County with one lane open each way. The $17.6 million effort, part of Rebuild Illinois, will last through mid-summer 2028, so local commuters should plan for delays and watch for changing work-zone conditions.
