Skimming Device Found On ATM At Iron Skillet Restaurant

MONEE, IL - Police in Monee are warning anyone who may have used the ATM outside the Iron Skillet Restaurant right off Interstate 57 in recent weeks. A card reader skimming device was found on the ATM slot in front of the restaurant on July 5.

It wasn't immediately known if anyone's personal information was obtained, but anyone who used the device should check their accounts for any unauthorized activity. An employee at the Iron Skillet said Monday that she didn't think any of the restaurant's customers should be concerned.

The Iron Skillet is part of the Petro Shopping Center on Manhattan-Monee Road, a common stop for travelers on Interstate 57.

Monee Police Chief Scott Koerner said ATM skimming incidents have become a bit of a "regular occurrence" in Northern Illinois, although this is the first one reported in Monee in about a year. He says Monee police will work with the sheriff's office and State Police to see if the skimming device found at the Iron Skillet matches up with any found in other towns.
