• Future of Mendota YMCA uncertain as Illinois Valley YMCA explores closure (shawlocal.com) — Mendota’s YMCA on IL-251 faces an uncertain future as the Illinois Valley YMCA considers closing the facility, prompting urgent talks with city leaders. Mayor Dave Boelk and city staff say programs are vital and are negotiating to keep services running at least through August while longer-term options are explored, with a decision expected in May. 
• National Weather Service confirms 2 more tornadoes in greater Chicago area from Friday storms (cbsnews.com) — Recent severe storms spawned an EF-1 tornado near Mendota, one of nine now confirmed in the greater Chicago area from Friday’s outbreak. The National Weather Service reports an unusually active and rainy spring, with multiple tornadoes across Illinois and Indiana and more than double the typical rainfall recorded at O’Hare.
