20 Set to Face Off in Frankfort's Battle of the Barbecue Ribs
The chefs will prepare the ribs on-site, and entries will be judged in a blind tasting.
Whose barbecue ribs take top prize? Twenty contestants will try to claim the crown at Frankfort’s Sixth Annual Amateur Rib Cookoff Saturday.
The Village of Frankfort teams up with the Frankfort Area Jaycees to host the August 2 event, which will be held at Breidert Green. The contestants will prepare and cook the baby back ribs on-site. Contestants will be allowed to set up their designated area from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the day of the event. Each contestant receives 15 slabs of ribs from the Jaycees on the day of the event to begin their preparation.
The tasting takes place from 1 to 3 p.m., with ribs judged based on a scale of 1 to 10, on appearance, tenderness and taste.
