Annual Christmas Fest Planned In Mokena

The event includes tree decorating, the tree lighting, the Parade of Lights and a family dance.

MOKENA, IL — Kick off the holiday season at Mokena' Christmas Fest Nov. 23. The Mokena Chamber of Commerce will hold the event which includes tree decorating, the tree lighting, the Parade of Lights and a family dance.

The day will start at Mokena Elementary School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with Santa's Workshop, crafts, lunch, pictures with Santa, a balloon artist and more.

The chamber said the event will then shift over to downtown Mokena on Front Street for the Parade of Lights at 5 p.m., and the tree lighting ceremony. The night will finish up with a family dance at the Mokena VFW Post #725.

The Parade of Lights may be the most popular part of Christmas Fest. The chamber said floats, decorated cars, costumed characters and decorations are all part of the parade.
