These are all emotions worthy of vocal expression,

I agree.

BUT…

But when you are clearly given direction not to express yourself vocally and outwardly-shouldn’t you comply?

Many of you have recently attended graduation ceremonies.

Fill in the event; 8th grade, high school, college – it doesn’t matter.

The point is still the same – should you comply with the expressed request to hold the applause and pipe down the cheering for your graduate – out of respect for the next graduate being called – so that they may have the same attention and courtesy as your graduate?

As a solution to this chronic outburst, it had been suggested that the rules change to conform with the holler-“er” and to allow them their joyful, expressive moment.

Should rules be changed to conform to the rogue families and friends of graduates – or should we continue to ask for civility?
