Crews Work To Clear Downed Trees On Old Plank Road Trail

Several forest preserves in Will County saw downed branches and trees from severe storms on Monday.

WILL COUNTY, IL — Several forest preserves in Will County have had branches and trees knocked down onto paths and parking lots after severe storms on Monday, the Forest Preserve District of Will County said on its website.

Crews are out clearing paths, and will continue to do so for the rest of the week, the preserve said. The Joliet Iron Works Historic Site was closed Tuesday for clean-up, and a portion of Old Plank Road Trail, from mile marker 14.5 between Lake Street and Joliet Highway to mile marker 16.2 at Gear Drive, was closed due to trees blocking the path.

Crews will be working on the Old Plank Road Trail on Wednesday to try to clear all the downed trees, so path users should avoid that area, the preserve said.
