D159 Beginning In-Person Learning Oct. 5

Students will return full-time or on a hybrid schedule, depending on grade level.

MOKENA, IL — After several weeks of full remote learning, District 159 in Mokena will begin in-person learning the week of Oct. 5.

According to the district's return to school presentation, early childhood students through fifth grade will return fully, attending five days a week. Grades 6-8 at Mokena Junior High will return with a hybrid schedule.

Oct. 2 will be a remote learning planning day for teacher, no student attendance is required.

The district said in its presentation that it has not had "significant COVID-19 related attendance issues" reported by teachers and county positivity rates have also been on the decline.

The most recent data shows region 7, which includes Will County, is at a 5.7 percent positivity rate. Many other nearby districts are also beginning in-person learning, including Lincoln-Way D210.
