D159 Schools Collect Coins For Alumna Diagnosed With Cancer
Student councils from each school have teamed up to help Sweeney, and students can bring in any spare change.
MOKENA, IL — District 159 schools are collecting coins to benefit a former student diagnosed with cancer. The schools will collect 'Coins For Caitlin' from March 11 to March 21.
The district said the fundraiser is for former student Caitlin Sweeney, who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Sweeney is a college student at Northern Illinois University and will continue to attend as she begins treatment.
Student councils from each school have teamed up to help Sweeney, and students can bring in any spare change which will help pay for treatments and bills.
