District 159 Seventh Grader Will Compete At State GeoBee
Jensen, who attends Mokena Junior High, will compete at the state competition on March 29 in Normal.
MOKENA, IL — District 159 seventh grader Addison Jensen has been chosen as a finalist for the 2019 National GeoBee State Competition. Jensen took an online qualifying test, which was submitted to the National Geographic Society.
The top 100 scoring students were then chosen to attend the state GeoBee. Jensen, who attends Mokena Junior High, will compete at the state competition on March 29 at Heartland Community College in Normal.
State champions then travel to the National Geographic Headquarters to compete in the national championship. The National Championship will be held May 19-22 in Washington, D.C.

According to the event website, the national champion will receive a $25,000 college scholarship, $1,000 in cash, a lifetime membership in National Geographic Society, and a trip to the Galapagos Islands.
