Presentation and Discussion Regarding the Treatment of Immigrants

This event is part of an educational tour about immigration and includes a movie and discussion focused on the harsh conditions faced by migrants in transit through Mexico.

The topics of anti-immigrant sentiment and laws that affect undocumented immigrants will be covered.

The panelists include The Rev. Alejandro Solalinde, a Mexican-Catholic priest; Cristian Pineda Flores, a young Mexican visual artist; and Marcela Zamora, a filmmaker.

Solalinde has dedicated his life to fighting against the systematic human rights abuses endured by immigrants who transit through Mexico in hopes of entering the United States.

Flores’ work has been inspired in his artwork by the human tragedy involving migrants in transit through Mexico, and Zamora’s film Maria en Tierra de Nadie depicts the harsh reality that of undocumented immigrants in the United States face.

The event will be held at the Sexton Auditorium in Moser Performing Arts Center at the University of St. Francis.
