Finding the Face of Mokena: Census Numbers "Crunched"

Are you a married woman six weeks away from your 39th birthday? Do you have two kids and one-third of a husband? If so, you’re the statistical face of Mokena.

Welcome to the first "Crunched," an occasional look at the numbers that describe your life. Today, we're looking at the preliminary results of the 2010 U.S. Census and comparing them to the numbers from 2000.

We don't have all the 2010 numbers yet, but we have some of the broad strokes. Now let’s see how well they match you.

The Fake Mokenan

We looked at a few key demographics and combined them to create a portrait of a completely fake person.

In no way is this creating a "typical" or "average" Mokenan. (For starters, how could there be more married women in town than married men?) In fact, this should create the most statistically unlikely person in town, the one who hit the perfect storm of the most common traits of different Mokena residents.

With that in mind, meet The Face of Mokena 2010 and her old buddy from a decade earlier, The Face of Mokena 2000.

Lives in a household headed by a husband and wife (73.7 percent of the population)
Has children under 18 in the house (50.2 percent)

* The median age for females, though, is 39.8
** If you are part of a family of exactly 3.33 people, call a doctor immediately.
*** This one might be a little misleading because that percentage includes the husband, the wife, the kids and anyone else who lives there. But since our pretend person is a 38-year-old woman, we’ll assume she’s the wife.
**** They list that 41.5 percent of people do have children under 18 in the house and I subtracted.
