Halloween Hollow Moves To Yunker Farm This Year

A beer tent, Trunk-R-Treat and Mutt Strut are new features at the annual fall celebration in Mokena in 2017.

MOKENA, IL -- Halloween Hollow, called by organizers as the biggest event of the year for the Mokena Park District, will have a new location in 2017 with its move to Yunker Farm. The annual mid-fall event in Mokena will be held from Friday, Oct. 13 to Sunday, Oct. 15 this year.

In addition to the new location, there will also be new features. A beer tent and entertainment will be there from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, a Trunk-R-Treat is Sunday at 3 p.m. and a Mutt Strut will be Sunday at 4 p.m. Registration for the Trunk-R-Treat and Mutt Strut must be made with the Park District by Oct. 6.

Old Halloween Hollow events like the carnival, scarecrow laboratory and the free kid's straw maze will still be at the fest. As will the Home Depot pumpkins, the pumpkin painting area, mummy wrap contest and costume contest.

WINDY CITY CARNIVAL
Daredevils of all ages will enjoy the Windy City Carnival with plenty of rides providing chills and thrills for everyone. Unlimited Carnival Rides Wristbands specials are available for only $25 per person, per session. Wristband sessions are Friday, 5-9 p.m., Saturday, 1:00–5:00 p.m. and 5:00–9:00 p.m. and Sunday, 1:00-5:00 p.m. New this year—the Pee-Wee wristband for $15 is good for unlimited rides on the train, slide and carousel. The Pee-Wee wristband is for kids 36” and under and available on Sunday
only.

CONTESTS FOR ALL AGES
Several contests will be offered for all ages. The Pumpkin Painting Contest is at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Prizes based on creativity, originality, and presentation. Check-in at the Main Stage between 1:00-3:00 p.m. Also at the Main Stage on Saturday is the Mummy Wrap Contest, Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest and the Costume Contest. Entrants for the Costume Contest should meet at the Main Stage at 1:30 p.m. Costumes will be judged in five categories: Cutest Baby (under 2 yrs. old), Funniest, Scariest, Prettiest and Most Original. Great awards and prizes awarded to the top three winners in each category and to one Best Overall winner.

MONSTER MARKET
There’s something for everyone in the Monster Market. Vendors will be selling plants, home décor, jewelry, glow in the dark items and more! You’ll enjoy shopping and browsing their boo-tiful wares.

NEW THIS YEAR!
Beer Tent and Entertainment from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Beer Tent is for 21 & over and fees apply. Check our website for the stage schedule.
Trunk-R-Treat at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Decorate the trunk of your vehicle for Halloween. All cars must have candy available and ready for the trick-or-treaters at your trunk! Prizes will be awarded to the best overall decorated cars. Free to register your car. Registration deadline: Friday, October 6.
Mutt Strut at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Bring your furry friends out for this new canine costume contest. Dress your pet up in their favorite Halloween costume and bring them to the Main Stage. Prizes and ribbons will be awarded. Free to register your canine. Registration deadline: Friday, October 6.

SCARECROW LABORATORY AND MORE
Other activities include the famous Scarecrow Laboratory, Free Kid’s Straw Maze, horse rides, face painting, Free Ghost Town Games, and the Free Home Depot Pumpkin Painting area. Some activities require a fee and are offered for a limited time only. Activities vary each day. Call or visit our website for a complete schedule of activities and entertainment.

Restaurants from around the area will be available to satisfy any monster’s appetite including favorites such as Hot Dogs, Italian Beef Sandwitches, Pizza slices, Funnel Cake, Brats, and more!
