Hilda Walker Kicks Off School Year
Students started off the year learning the rules and expectations of the classroom and school.

The Hilda Walker Intermediate School students and staff are off to a great start to the school year.
The first week of school at Hilda Walker in Tinley Park centered on the school’s PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Expectations of being Respectful, Responsible and Safe. Students attended our PBIS schoolwide kickoff on the second day of school. Throughout the week, students were specifically taught the expectations for each school setting. The culminating event for our week-long kickoff was an assembly featuring a three-screen multi-media presentation on respect for self and respect for others. This presentation suits District 161’s theme for 2014-2015, Expect Respect.
“We at Walker believe that specifically teaching expectations sets the mood for the year and creates better focus on academic achievement,” the school said in a press release.
