MOKENA, IL — Several middle school students go some experience in local governing recently when they were chosen to assume acting roles integral to village operations. The village said selected middle school students from Mokena Junior High, St. Mary, Summit Hill and Noonan Academy participated in this experience with local government.
As a part of Mokena Student Government Days on March 13-14, the village said students from each school were introduced by Mayor Frank Fleischer, Clerk Melissa Martini, the board of trustees, and village staff to the inner workings of your local government and assumed acting
roles integral to its operation.
Students spent the morning of March 13 becoming familiar with village functions, hearing from Fleischer and village managers, the village said. Later, they were treated to a facility tour and electric go-kart driving experience at local business Accelerate Indoor Speedway. The morning was topped off with lunch from Beggar’s Pizza.
