Meteors Over Mokena? Watch This Video, Then You Decide

Early perseids? Exploding meteors? Red stars? Mokena residents reported odd behavior in the sky Friday night.

MOKENA, IL - Up in the sky at night. Tinley Park has its UFOs, but what will Mokena's connection to the unexplained be after some seriously odd movement that took place in the sky over the suburb late Friday night?

A resident shared this video, shot around 10 p.m. Friday night near the area of the 19200 block of Townline Road, with Mokena Patch. It shows two objects in the sky stagnant, then moving quickly.

A perseid meteor shower is expected to peak this weekend, but that's not until Sunday night or early Monday morning, according to an NPR report. The person who shared the video believes the occurrence is the perseids, but noted they were without movement and red.

Other Mokena residents were puzzled about what they saw as well.
