Mokena District 159 School Calendar 2019-20: First Day, Breaks

MOKENA, IL — Mokena District 159 students will soon head back to school for the 2019-20 school year. District 159 has released its school calendar for the year, which is full of important dates to remember for both parents and students.

The calendar includes dates like winter and spring break, holidays, conferences and half days. Here is the list of days you should know for this school year:

August

• Aug. 21 - First day of school

September

• Sept. 2 - Labor Day, no school
• Sept. 11 - Early dismissal, half-day

October

• Oct. 14 - Columbus Day, no school
• Oct. 16 - Early dismissal, half-day
• Oct. 25 - Mokena Junior High Halloween Dance

November

• Nov. 7 - Parent teacher conferences, no school
• Nov. 8 - Veterans Day, no school
• Nov. 27, 28, 29 - Thanksgiving holiday, no school

December

• Dec. 11 - Early dismissal, half-day
• Dec. 20 - Winter break begins at end of day

January

• Jan. 6 - Classes resume from winter break
• Jan. 15 - Early dismissal, half-day
• Jan. 20 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school
• Jan. 24 - Mokena Junior High Winter Dance

February

• Feb. 5 - Early dismissal, half-day
• Feb. 14 - Teacher Institute, no school
• Feb. 17 - Presidents Day, no school

March

• March 11 - Early dismissal, half-day
• March 27 - Spring break begins at end of day

• May 25 - Memorial Day, no school
• May 29 - Half-day. Tentative last day of school
• May 29 - Eighth grade graduation
