MOKENA, IL — The village of Mokena has finalized its plans for its Fourth of July fireworks show, and the village board has decided to hold the event at the Ozinga Bros. property located northeast of La Grange Road and 191st Street. According to a release from the village, this new site is designed to provide residents with the best "bang for the buck" while also following health guidelines.

The show will begin at 9 p.m. July 4, and residents will be able to view the display from their own homes. A release from the village states there will also be a limited number of "socially distanced" parking spaces at the Hickory Creek Metra lot for viewing. Access to those spaces will be restricted to drivers who present a valid driver's license showing they are a Mokena resident.

Gates to the Metra lot will open at 7 p.m., and any remaining spaces will open to non-residents after 8:30 p.m., a release states. Other gatherings at the display site is strongly discouraged.
