Mokena Park District Plans 38th Annual Halloween Hollow
The 38th annual event includes a carnival, entertainment, fireworks, a pumpkin pie eating contest and more.
MOKENA, IL — The Mokena Community Park District will hold the 38th annual Halloween Hollow from Oct. 18-20. The event, held at Yunker Park, includes a carnival, entertainment, fireworks, a pumpkin pie eating contest and more.
Hours for the event are: 4 to 8 p.m., Friday (carnival only); 12 to 8 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Parking is $5 per vehicle.
You can purchase unlimited carnival rides wristbands for $25 per person, per session. Wristband sessions are Friday, 4–8 p.m., Saturday, 12 to 4 p.m. and 4–8 p.m. and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.

On Saturday, there will be live entertainment from 3 to 8 p.m. and a Halloween-themed fireworks show at 8 p.m. There will also be several contests throughout the event, including the mummy wrap contest, pumpkin pie eating contest and a costume contest.
One of the biggest attractions at the fest is the Monster Market. The park district said vendors will be selling a variety of items such as plants, home décor, glow in the dark items and more. For kids at the fest, there will be a straw maze, horse rides, face painting and games.

The park district will also announce the winners of the House of Frights decorating contest at the event. You can decorate your residence for Halloween and register online for your chance to win. Judging will take place between 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 and 16 and is based on creativity, originality, theme, musical effects, lighting and overall layout. Winners will be announced at the Halloween Hollow Main Stage on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Register online by Friday, Oct. 11.
