Mokena Park District Plans Drive-In Movie Series

MOKENA, IL — The Mokena Community Park District canceled its annual music and movie series this summer, but will now hold several drive-in movies in July and August instead.

All the movies will begin at 8:15 p.m. or dusk at the Oaks Recreation and Fitness Center parking lot, 10847 W. La Porte Road. Social distancing is required and masks are required if you leave your vehicle for any reason.

The movie schedule will be:

• July 9, "Aladdin"
• July 16, "Abominable"
• July 23, "Secret Life of Pets 2"
• July 30, "Frozen 2"
• Aug. 6, "Little Rascals"
• Aug. 13, "Toy Story 4"

You can pre-register online starting June 25 to guarantee your spot. According to the park district's Facebook event page, if you don't pre-register, there is no guarantee there will be open spots available.

Cars will be able to tune into an FM radio station at the event to hear the movie.
