Mokena Park District Plans To Send Stockings To Troops

MOKENA, IL — The Mokena Park District is looking for donations of supplies to make stockings for the troops. You can head to The Oaks Recreation and Fitness Center from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 8 to help decorate holiday stockings for troops overseas.

Stockings and craft supplies are provided. Cards, paper, pens, and crayons will be available for you to write a letter of thanks and appreciation to include in your stocking, the park district said.

Donations of small "stocking stuffer" items protein bars, gum, trail mix, deodorant, shampoo, cards, razors, toothpaste, etc, will be accepted. “Operation Care Package” will send all completed stockings and donations to the troops.

The park district said it could also use donations of fabric and craft items to help make the socks. Donations are accepted at the Administration Center at Main Park, 10925 La Porte Road, Mokena.
