Mokena Park District Receives $380K Grant For New Park
The park will feature a 1/4 mile walking track, accessible playground, gazebo, exercise stations and more in Whisper Creek.
MOKENA, IL — The Mokena Community Park District has received a $380,000 grant to construct a park in Whisper Creek. The park district said the matching grant comes from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Open Space Land Acquisition and Development program for a new park off Regan Road and Whisper Creek Way.
The park will feature a 1/4 mile walking track, accessible playground, gazebo, exercise stations, basketball circle, parking and open green space, the park district said. The design work will be finished in 2020, with construction starting in early 2021.
