Morning Bird Hike Planned In Mokena

Participants will hike up to two miles on natural surfaces across uneven terrain.

MOKENA, IL — The Will County Forest Preserve District will hold a Morning Bird Hike at the Hickory Creek Preserve-LaPorte Road Access. The hike will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 7. The event is free and for those 18 and older.

According to the preserve, participants will hike up to two miles on natural surfaces across uneven terrain. The event will start at the Shagbark Grove Shelter. You should bring along binoculars and dress for the weather.

The preserve said spring migration is the best time to see a variety of birds. Hummingbirds and orioles will be arriving to next and many warbler species also pass through on migration.
