NAWS Seeking Donations, Animals Still Up For Adoption
Due to the coronavirus, NAWS in Mokena is in danger of closing permanently and is seeking donations from the community to help stay afloat.

MOKENA, IL — As the coronavirus pandemic creates tough times for most, every business and organization is also facing challenges, and the NAWS Humane Society of Illinois in Mokena is no exception. According to its GoFundMe page, the society is in danger of closing permanently and there are still several animals available for adoption.
This week's adoptable pet is Venmo, an 8-year-old female brown tabby. The society said her owner died and Venmo found herself in a local animal control where was at risk of euthanasia.
She came to NAWS badly matted and showed signs of neglect, the society said. Venmo may need some time to adjust to a new living situation and she can be a little nervous. She likes to find a comfy spot and watch the world go by around her.

She is low-maintenance and once she trusts you, she likes people and enjoys being pet, the society said.
