Palos Community Hospital offers Fall Prevention Fair

Palos Community Hospital is offering a Fall Prevention Fair, Preventing Falls … Strong Today, Fall Free Tomorrow, on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Falls can be dangerous and are a leading cause of injury and death for older adults. However, they can be prevented.

Participants at Palos Community Hospital’s fall prevention fair, being held Sept. 27, during National Fall Prevention Awareness Month, will learn what can be done to improve their quality of life.

Free activities and screenings include:
• 11 a.m. – Fall risk presentations by Palos Occupational and Physical Therapists
• 11:30 a.m. – Osteoporosis lecture by board-certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist Yasemin Ozcan, M.D.
• Noon – Exercise demonstration
• Blood pressure and balance screenings
• Footwear and assistive device check
• Medication review by a Palos pharmacist
• Community vendors
• Important resources to help you or a loved one avoid a fall and remain safe

The fair will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 27, at Palos Community Hospital Auditorium, 12251 S. 80th Ave., Palos Heights.

Call (708) 226-2300 to register. Registration is recommended, but walk-ins are welcome.
