Park District Working On Plan For Sports Program Alternatives
New guidance and restrictions on recreational sports will go into effect on Aug. 15.
MOKENA, IL — As Gov. J.B. Pritzker has shared new guidance and restrictions on youth and adult recreational sports, the Mokena Community Park District said on its Facebook page that it is working on a plan to create alternatives for its affected programs and leagues.
With the new guidance, sports have been broken down by risk level and an associated level of play which allows for different levels of competition. For example, football is considered a higher risk sport which means it can play at level 1, which only allows for no-contact practices and training.
Marketing Coordinator Laurel Welch told Patch that impacted programs include the youth fall soccer league, adult fall leagues and the youth basketball league which starts in the fall.
