Quick Change Scam Hits Beggars Pizza: Crime Blotter

NEW LENOX, IL - Here is your look at some of the recent criminal activity across the village of New Lenox over the past week. The information comes courtesy of New Lenox's Police Department.

JULY 19

Officers were dispatched to Bull Dog Ale House in reference to a fight. The officers learned Courtney Bingham, 23, of Manhattan, had battered another female inside the business. During the investigation, Bingham struck an officer, spit on him and resisted arrest. After being taken into custody, Bingham kicked an NLPD squad car several times causing damage. JULY 20

An officer was dispatched to the 15700 block of Valley View Street in reference to a theft. The complainant advised that several pieces of heating and cooling equipment were stolen from a construction site.

Also that day, an officer was dispatched to Beggars Pizza in the 600 block of West Lincoln Highway in reference to a theft. The complainant advised that a customer requested change for larger bills on several occasions from an employee. It was later learned that the customer stole $60 from the employee through deception/quick change scam.

JULY 23

The officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Central Road in reference to a burglary to motor vehicle. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in their driveway overnight and rummaged through their property. Nothing appeared missing at the time of the report.

Also that day, police were dispatched to Murphy Oil in reference to a theft. The complainant advised that a customer pumped $44 worth of gas into a vehicle and drove off without attempting to pay.

Also that day, an officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a retail theft. The complainant advised that someone stole approximately $100 worth of motor oil from the store.
