State Rep. McDermed Hosting Women’s Self Defense Class

State Rep. McDermed and One Light Self Defense are hosting free defense class for women and girls over 12.

Mokena, IL…. State Representative Margo McDermed (R-Mokena), together with One Light Self Defense, is hosting three free workshops for women and girls over the course of the year. The first class will take place on Tuesday, April 9th at Parker Road Bible Church, 18512 Parker Rd in Mokena. The three-hour class will run from 6-9 pm and covers avoidance tactics, self-defense misconceptions, offensive techniques, and defensive escapes.

“The instructors at One Light do a great job of teaching a basic understanding of how to avoid becoming a victim of violence and sharing the skills that can be used in the event of an attack,” Rep. McDermed said. “One Light continues to provide a quality course and the response we get from attendees is always positive. I highly recommend women and girls over 12 attend this workshop, as it is full of useful information and important defensive techniques.”

This is the fourth year that Rep. McDermed is partnering with One Light to offer self-defense classes. Other seminars are scheduled for July and October of this year, with more information to come later.
