Summit Hill Junior High School Softball Players Score for ALS
Players accept the Ice Bucket Challenge and raise funds For ALS Foundation.

The Summit Hill Junior High School “B” softball team recently accepted the ALS “Ice Bucket Challenge” and raised $200.00 dollars for the ALS foundation. Assistant coach, Kathryn Hopkins, was challenged by another teacher at the junior high and saw the challenge as an opportunity to bring her team together and to raise money for a great cause. “We decided that challenging our team was a great opportunity for our girls,” Hopkins stated. “Our girls see all of their friends being challenged on Instagram and Facebook, but we wanted them to realize that being challenged was so much more than getting attention on social media; it’s a chance to help those in need.”
Head softball coach, Amanda Kocna, agrees, “As much as our team is about learning the fundamentals of playing softball, it is also about being a model student and leader within the school and community. We try to teach our athletes more than simply playing the game, and the ALS ‘ice bucket challenge’ was the perfect opportunity to support a wonderful cause and have fun while doing so.”
Team member include: Cassidy Tanner, Haley Elmer, Franchesca Garcia, Paige Doyle, Grace McMann, Brianna Rush, Emma Drafke, Audrey Zednick, Hannah Tholl, Allison Logan, Dayla Rauch, Maggie Dickhaut, Analiese Hohmann, and Kaitlin Burke.
