The water rate has increased from $7.62 per 1,000 gallons to $7.73 per 1,000 gallons.

MOKENA, IL — At its June 22 meeting, the Mokena village board approved an ordinance amending and slightly increasing the village's water rate for the 2021 fiscal year.

According to the village website, the water rate is made up of a City of Chicago rate for treating and delivering water to Oak Lawn, an Oak Lawn rate for delivering water to Mokena and four other "downstream" communities, a Tinley Park rate for delivering water to Mokena and New Lenox, and a local community rate for delivering water directly to Mokena residents and businesses.

The board approved an 11 cent/1,000 gallons adjustment, so the water rate has increased from $7.62 per 1,000 gallons to $7.73 per 1,000 gallons.
