Will County Homes Inundated With Raw Sewage, Residents Going After Water Company: Lawsuit
Three people living outside Mokena are suing the Illinois-American Water Company.
Three Will County residents claiming they were overwhelmed by raw sewage following heavy rains have sued the Illinois-American Water Company.
Ann and Jerry McCarthy, along with Rosemarie Fisher, filed their lawsuit against the water company in Will County court. The McCarthys and Fisher live on Willow Lane outside Mokena, according to the lawsuit.
Heavy rains in in May and June, as well as in June 2011, caused the sewer system to back up, the lawsuit said, and “raw sewage back-flowed out of the top of (a) manhole” and into the homes and yards of the McCarthys and Fisher.
